Our story

Makenna and Sam became friends in 2022. They have memories roller skating together, celebrating Sam’s 18th birthday, and exploring Costa Rica’s beauty. At the time, neither could have guessed what the future had in store.

A year later, Sam moved to Spain for work. Little did he know, Sam’s move to Spain set the stage for something even greater. Once he realized Makenna was also living in Spain, he invited her to visit him. Eager to experience the stunning Costa Brava, Makenna gladly took Sam’s offer and traveled to Girona.

With a shared love for adventure, they booked a group tour to Morocco. While Makenna’s Visa situation made it seem like she would need to cancel the trip, the Lord provided her with a miracle “authorization to return” with just a day to spare. That trip became more than just an exploration of a new continent. Through deep conversations, laughter-filled moments, and unforgettable adventures, romantic interests blossomed.

Three weeks later, as Sam prepared to fly back to Costa Rica from Madrid, he asked to see Makenna one last time. When he arrived, he surprised her with roses—and with that, they took the next step, officially becoming boyfriend and girlfriend. However, with Sam’s flight already booked to Costa Rica, they were faced with their unfortunate reality: long distance.🙁

Since then, it’s been a beautiful journey of learning to mutually support, encourage, and love each other better each day. We’ve also learned to communicate more effectively, and hold each other accountable to living out our values. In short, we bring out the best in each other. This season has also been filled with lots of FaceTime calls, bible studies, memories around the world, and many sweet and simple yet romantic activities.
